About Us

Our History and Founding Story

ABASANGIRA – Remembrance Companions was founded to honor the memory of those who suffered during the July 5, 1973 Coup d’État and to seek the truth about the events that led to it. The association was established by a group of passionate individuals who were committed to uncovering the historical facts, preserving the stories of victims, and providing support to their families

Why ABASANGIRA Was Created

Our organization was created to fulfill a vital need: the remembrance and recognition of the victims, many of whom were unjustly silenced. Through our work, we aim to bring light to the untold stories, advocate for justice, and contribute to the healing process of affected families. By uniting survivors, families, and supporters, we hope to promote reconciliation and a future based on truth, solidarity, and mutual respect.
